Archos launches its Arnova 7 Android tablet that costs just $99. The 7-inch device runs Android 2.2 Froyo OS. With such price point, don’t expect capacitive touchscreen. The Arnova 7 has a 7-inch 800×4800 resistive touchscreen and supports WiFi 802.11b/g connectivity. It can handle H.264, MPEG-4, RealVideo video playback up to 720p resolution at 30fps.

Megastar-turned-politician Chiranjeevi inaugurated a movie-based TV channel named UTV Action in Hyderabad on Tuesday.A new addition in the existing UTV bouquet of UTV Bindass, UTV World Movies, UTV Movies and UTV Action Hindi, the new channel will showcase dubbed, fast-paced action content from Hollywood.It will present multiple blockbuster titles Hellboy, Book of Eli, Angels & Demons, The Bounty Hunter, Bad Boys, Karate Kid and several others such Spiderman, XXX, Men In Black and Hancock."Despite new trends in Telugu film making, Hollywood action movies continue to be of a different level. We have limitations of technical excellence and also budget. Action cinema offers a completely different experience," observed Chiranjeevi on the occasion."Telugu happens to be the second-most preferred language of release for Hollywood action films in India and this is one of the factors that prompted UTV to launch its Telugu channel," UTV Action Telugu business head Sameer Ganapathy said.

FNAEM bans Siddharth

In response to actor Siddharth's recent derogatory remarks about Telugu news channels on Twitter, the Film Newscasters' Association of Electronic Media (FNAEM) has banned the actor on Tuesday.The whole drama began when a news channel aired a programme (prior to its release) on the actor's necently released film 180, criticizing the movie. This irritiated the actor who lashed out at the news channel at Twitter: "3rd grade 'N'ews channels will sell their families to make up an hour of tv. Clarifying their garbage & lies is not worth our time. Ignore!"On Tuesday, the mediapersons made a walkout when Siddharth was about to talk at the 180 press meet. FNAEM also lodged a complaint with MAA to take action against Siddharth, who always makes derogatory remarks against media and journalists.

Rajamouli, who worked with Kajal Aggarwal in Magadheera, approached the actress to perform an item number in his upcoming film Eega and the actress agreed without a second thought!To the disappointment of Kajal Aggarwal fans, director S.S. Rajamouli himself has now stated that she will not shake a leg for the said special number.Responding to fans' questions about the item song, the director posted on Twitter, "News that Kajal doing an item number in Eega are not true. Banam fame Nara Rohit’s upcoming film Solo, which is progressing at a brisk pace in Hyderabad, will be released in August, the makers informed. This film with a tagline 'A solid love story' is said to be a romantic action entertainer.
The film is directed Parusuram, who earlier directed Yuvatha and Anjeneyulu, and produced by Vizag based businessman Vamsikrishna Srinivas under the banner of SVK Cinema. Kajal Aggarwal’s sister Nisha Aggarwal is the heroine.Mani Sharma is composing the music. The movie has Shiyaji Shinde, Prakashraj, Suhasini, Ali and Ravi Prakash in important roles.

Aishwarya Dhanush turns director!

The wait is over! Dhanush has finally made an announcement that his wife and superstar Rajinikanth's elder daughter Aishwarya will soon make her directorial debut.

In her maiden film, Dhanush will be the hero. "Yes I am doing a project with Aishwarya. But the lead opposite me has not been finalized. I'll confirm soon," Dhanush said. It is believed that Shruti Haasan has been approached to play the female lead in this untitled romantic film.Being a great movie buff, Aishwarya usually accompanies Dhanush for all his shootings and has also assisted a few directors, including Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan and Sri Raghava in his Karthi starrer Yuganiki Okkadu. For the past few months, she has been busy preparing the script. The project will be announced after Rajnikanth's complete recovery, it is heard.

Endukante Premanta launched

Upcoming hero Ram’s next venture Endukante Premanta under the direction of Karunakaran was launched June 29 at Rama Naidu Studios, Hyderabad.
Director Vijayabaskar gave the clap for the first scene that was shot on Ram and heroine Tamannaah, while Suresh Babu switched on the camera. Director Sukumar handed over the script to Karunakaran.  S.S. Rajamouli, Puri Jagannath, Dil Raju, Bhagyaraj and Sravanti Ravi Kishore were present.
The regular shooting will start from July first week. Endukante Premanta is a romantic love entertainer, produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore. Music is by G.V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography by Andrew and editing by Gautham Raju.

Producer C. Kalyan held in Chennai

Popular producer C. Kalyan, who produced several films, including Chandamama and Parama Veera Chakra, was detained by the sleuths of Crime Investigation Department at Chennai on Wednesday, as part of the investigation into his alleged financial dealings with Bhanu, the prime suspect in the murder of faction leader Maddelachervu Suri.
Shalimaar Video Company also lodged a complaint against C. Kalyan for cheating their company relating to the video rights of the films Khaleja and Komaram Puli. Two days ago, Kalyan approached the court through his lawyer to seek anticipatory bail which was denied. C. Kalyan will be brought to Hyderabad on Thursday, sources said.
Already, the CID officials have arrested film producer Singanamala Ramesh Babu in connection with three cheating cases while investigating into the transactions of Bhanu Kiran, who was wanted in the murder case of factionist Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri.

Nanna gets 'U' certificate

UTV Pictures' Vikram starrer Nanna (Deiva Thirumagal in Tamil), directed by Madarasapattinam Vijay, has bagged a clean 'U' certificate from the Censor Board. Reportedly the Censor Board officials were very impressed with the film and also rated it as one of the best performances in Vikram's career.

The film, which is expected to grace theatres on July 15, 2011, will be released in more than 400 screens across the country. Music composed by G.V. Prakash is already topping the charts.
Starring Vikram as Krishna, a mentally challenged adult with the maturity of a five-year-old, the film has Anushka playing the role of a lawyer, while Amala Paul plays an important role. Nirav handles the camera while Madaraspattinam Vijay is the director.Nanna is Vikram's fouth film being dubbed in Telugu, after Anniyan (Aparichitudu), Pithamagan (Siva Putrudu), Kanthaswamy (Mallanna) and Raavanan.

Nani-Krishna Vamsi film launched

Ashta Chemma and Ala Modalaindi fame Nani's next film under the direction of creative director Krishna Vamsi was launched on June 29 at Yellow Flowers office.

The regular shooting of this untitled action comedy will start in August. RR Movie Makers is presenting this movie which will have two heroines. More details of cast and crew will be announced soon.

Presently, Krishna Vamsi is busy with the shooting of his current project Mogudu with Gopichand and Tapasee in the lead roles.

The next schedule of Rebel Star Prabhas' new film Rebel, which recently completed some action sequences on Prabhas, Vishal Kaushik and Akash in Hyderabad under the supervision of fight masters Ram-Lakshman, will commence in Hyderabad on June 27.In the upcoming schedule, the crew will can some comedy scenes and a song. Producers J. Bhagwan and J. Pulla Rao said that the entire shooting will be complete by October.Directed by choreographer-turned-director Raghava Lawrence, the film has two heroines: Anushka and Dekksha Seth. Music is by S.S. According to sources, the actress is on a strict vegetarian diet, having only home-made food during the shooting. Besides, she is not meeting Prabhu Deva during her shoots and is more or less cocooned in her five star hotel suite. It is heard that the she wants to get into the skin of the character Sita she is portraying on screen. Hero Balakrishna is also on a vegetarian diet.Sri Rama Rajyam is almost complete and the shooting will be over by July. BlueSky, which distributed Naga Chaitanya's recent super hit 100% Love in overseas markets, has bagged the overseas rights of Tollywood's reliable hero Srikanth's Virodhi, directed by National Award winner Neelakanta Reddy.The film recently cleared censor formalities by receiving an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board. Releasing on July 1, the film is produced by Srikanth's brother Anil Meka under the banner Meka Media.Set in the backdrop of Maoists movements in the country, the film has Srikanth playing the role of a journalist.
