Ugadi means the beginning ( adi) of new era ( yuga). Ugadi is celebrated as new year day by the Hindu’s of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. But tamilians have different date for their tamil new year. Sri khara nama samvatsara is the name of the telugu new year that comes with Ugadi 2011. both ugadi and Gudi padwa fall on the same day and gudi padwa is celebrated by marathi people in maharastra as their new year.
